Manhattan House Heading to South Bay Via Former BLD Chef Diana Stavaridis

Prolific restaurateur Richard Drapkin is behind this new Manhattan Beach gastropub

Manhattan Beach keeps growing in both depth and breadth, though this latest effort by prolific restaurateur Richard Drapkin, who owns bld and Duff's Cakemix, should add a trusty new place to the area.

Dubbed simply Manhattan House, he's tapped chef Diana Stavaridis to helm the kitchen. Stavaridis helped open the original bld but spent the last few years staging in Europe at the likes of Paris' Frenchie and England's River Cottage to hone her skills.

Slated to open in March, Manhattan House takes over the old Aji Sushi, which stands alone on Manhattan Beach Blvd. Touting a neighborhood gastropub concept, it'll be the kind of everyday eatery that the South Bay could use. Think house-made charcuterie, house-baked breads, and farm-to-table dishes. As for beverages, a solid lineup of craft beers, wine, and cocktails.

Drapkin also developed the Foodco West spots Cora's Coffee Shop, Capo, and Cafe Brentwood, while Brett Schwartz, Adam Hersh, and David Topkins join the fold as partners in this project.
