Dogs and dog lovers unite with The Dog Cafe "Pup-Up," which started today in Downtown LA. Sarah Wolfgang, founder of the Dog Cafe, is surrounded by some furry friends while Grounds & Hounds Coffee Co. introduce their fair-trade coffee and volunteers from Wags and Walks are there to establish America's first revolutionary coffee shop offering rescue dogs for adoption.
For those who haven't heard, the pop up event will take place over four days from January 22nd to January 25 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Dog Cafe aims to revolutionize dog adoption by reinventing the way people connect with dogs needing homes. A coffee truck is on the premises and shelter dogs from Wags and Walks are available to cuddle, play with, and hopefully adopt, with a photo station on site where visitors can pose with man's best friend.
The Dog Cafe offers people a chance to spend quality time with dogs without the commitment of adoption. Current pet owners are invited to come in with their own dogs to allow them to socialize and meet friends. Also, proceeds from the event will benefit The Cafe's goal of establishing its own permanent location in Los Angeles.
In addition, Sarah has found a brick and mortar in Little Tokyo that would be ideal for the permanent Dog Café. It would be compartmentalized with a café on one side, most dogs on the other side and she would separate older dogs and puppies with weaker immune systems from the rest. She plans on opening when funding is complete.
Pre-sale tickets can be purchased for $20 at the Dog Cafe's IndieGoGo fundraising page, or it's $15 admission on a first-come, first-serve basis (coffee purchased separately). Cash and credit accepted. For more details, check the Indiegogo campaign here.
