Take a gander at Sweeney's Ale House, a comfy new craft beer hall from Ryan Sweeney and company that soft opened last Friday in Encino. Sweeney, of Surly Goat fame, helms the tap selection here, which boasts everything from Eagle Rock Jubilee to Dogfish Head's 120 Minute IPA.
The cocktail menu sticks mostly to Irish whiskies, which makes it rather approachable. And as for the fare, it's familiar comfort food with a slight twist, such as cantina queso with manchego and pita chips, or a pastrami burger loaded up with cheddar and crispy rings.
Open 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday to Friday, and weekends from 12 p.m. to 2 a.m.
