Pitchoun! Bakery, A Classic French Boulangerie Proofing Baguettes And More in Downtown

New, 1 comment

The Downtown carb scene is about to get an upgrade.

Matthew Kang is the Lead Editor of Eater LA. He has covered dining, restaurants, food culture, and nightlife in Los Angeles since 2008. He's the host of K-Town, a YouTube series covering Korean food in America, and has been featured in Netflix's Street Food show.

Pitchoun! Bakery is currently proofing in a former pizza shop on South Olive next to Pershing Square in Downtown, much to the delight of carb addicts. The traditional French bakery touts everything from baguettes, breads, pastries, and cakes to salads, sandwiches, and soups.

It's the kind of versatile, grab-and-go bakery that's on every street corner in Paris, but plopped right into the bustling heart of Downtown. Both the baker and pastry chef have trained in France, ensuring that this isn't just some Au Bon Pain landing in the central business district. At the moment, there's no solid projected opening date, but it should be within the next few weeks pending construction.
