Though September was the early target date, it looks like Koreatown's Southland Beer picked last night as their first official date of service. The strip mall craft beer destination has been in heavy construction since early summer, and only just now worked out all the kinks, paperwork and otherwise, to open for business.

In lieu of an official early blowout party, Southland plans to roll into things slowly, serving neighbors and word-of-mouth customers for now. They'll be pouring all the local favorites, from MacLeod Ale to Smog City to San Diego's IPA-focused Alpine Beer Company, but no word on whether or not their simple snack menu is online just yet.

As for hours, expect Southland to open at 2 p.m. today and run until midnight or thereabouts, with weekend hours starting at noon both Saturday and Sunday. And remember, Southland also doubles as a bottle shop, so there's the opportunity to grab a few drinks to go as well.
