Beer Belly's Jimmy Han Takes Over Dive Bar Legend Frank N Hanks in Koreatown

One of Koreatown’s most beloved dive bars, Frank N Hanks, is coming under new management very soon. Per this ABC license, the longtime watering hole is in escrow with familiar name Jimmy Han, who himself owns craft beer bar Beer Belly not far away.

The timeless cheap drinks spot on Western has been home to pool hustlers and cash-only imbibers for years, but with this latest news it seems there are plans to make a few subtle changes. For now Han doesn’t plan to touch a thing, but somewhere down the line, Frank N Hanks may well add a craft beer component to complement its current focus on low-end beers and cocktails — all cans and bottles though, no taps. There's also room to upgrade the booze selection at some point, possibly to include more current options like mezcal.

Han is very much interested in keeping the shot and a beer vibe of Frank N Hanks in place, so don’t expect too much cleaning up around the edges or any massive renovations inside. Instead, expect the same Frank N Hanks divey feel you’ve loved for years, but with the kind of touches that can keep a place relevant for many more.
