Tacos tu Madre is a colorful new taco takeout window from Joshua Pourgol and Oliver Mateen that'll be sure to get food enthusiasts ready to Instagram their order. Opening officially on November 1, the place opens with free tacos for everyone on the first day (limited to one per person, so if you're hungry be ready to pay up to get satiated).
The menu and approach doesn't necessarily adhere to a regional Mexican style, with offerings like a vegan banh mi or Korean barbecue in taco form. Basic tacos range more familiar fillings, like carnitas, grilled chicken, lamb birria, and carne asada. For those hankering for a high end taco, try the ostrich or duck confit topped with foie gras. And if you can't decide what to get, they'll even put together a taco tasting menu for between $10 and $14. For a sweet finish, try the red velvet churros filled with cream cheese.
The colorful look should enhance your food photo game, and the modern furniture comes via Native Standard design. The eye-catching Dia de los Muertos mural was done by The Art of Chase. When it opens, Tacos tu Madre will serve from 8 a.m. to midnight Monday to Wednesday, and until 3 a.m. from Thursday to Sunday, making this Westwood's new preferred late night taco destination.
