Apparently Chomp Eatery in Santa Monica thinks pumpkin spice is cool again, because they're now serving a fried chicken pumpkin spiced sandwich. Cradled, of course, in a doughnut.
This city has seen bad doughnut ideas before, but according to the LA Times shop owner Rolan Pongpuntara thinks the melding of fall flavors, fried chicken, and sweet doughnuts is a can’t-miss. The pumpkin spice additive is actually mixed into an otherwise straightforward aioli — so that’s a savory pumpkin spice flavor you’re tasting, apparently — while the fried bird is wrapped in one of DK’s Donuts cinnamon glazed finest.
The resulting concoction is only $5.95 and runs through the end of the month, which is actually sort of a deal considering the high cost of most other fried chicken sandwiches around. Plus, you get a free dessert — it’s actually built right into the sandwich.
Take a look at the pumpkin spiced glory yourself, and then head to Santa Monica's Chomp Eatery if you're feeling a little basic (or just trying to get in the fall spirit despite the 90 degree weather).
