Howlin' Ray's, the hot chicken truck that was destined for a brick and mortar at the old littlefork space, is backing out of the deal to team up with restauranteur David Reiss (A-Frame, Alibi Room, Sunny Spot). Eater was informed today from both parties that they couldn't come to agreeable terms for the arrangement, which was supposedly had Howlin' Ray's in a "residency" status before going long term. Instead, Hollywood denizens will have to wait to see what happens at the corner of Wilcox and Selma.

Meanwhile, Howlin' Ray's chef Johnny Zone tells Eater that he's still actively looking for a brick and mortar location, most likely somewhere on the Eastside, though Zone did mention that they plan to reach the Westside at some point next year as well. It's unfortunate that this deal didn't come into fruition, but it's possibly better that it happened before the official opening than afterwards.  One thing is clear, Zone and wife/partner Amanda Chapman do not plan on rolling out the truck again. So anyone who's craving that Nashville hot chicken will have to wait until the duo finds a solid location to land in.
