On November 2, customs agents at LAX uncovered and confiscated hundreds of illegal tamales that had been transported from Mexico, reports CBS News. A total of 450 pork tamales were discovered after an unidentified passenger declared "food" at customs but failed to mention the transportation of "pork meat products," on the form.

Likely being delivered for the holidays, the pork tamales were flagged because "foreign meat products can carry serious animal diseases from countries affected by outbreaks of Avian Influenza, Mad Cow and Swine Fever." Bummer for all the folks who were promised tamales this holiday season.

Wrapped in plastic bags, the tamales were later destroyed under the supervision of Customs and Border Protection. The passenger was then fined $1,000 because the tamales were destined to be sold and distributed.
