The newest entrant to the Sunset Strip dining scene, Estrella has kicked off lunch service this week. Chef Dakota Weiss' undeniably cool restaurant in the IAC building will be an ideal one-stop-shop for office workers and West Hollywood denizens looking for a quick bite or cozy place to work. The server who was working at Bamboo Thai Bistro and received a racist, anti-immigration tip has been getting some over the top gratuities from diners. According to Grubstreet, people have been leaving up to 50% tips and leaving notes like, "sorry you had to deal with that man."

A big time New York chef cooks in Venice
Justin Smillie, who actually hails from Southern California and helms the kitchen at New York City's Upland, is cooking a dinner at the Rose in Venice this coming Saturday to promote his cookbook Slow Fires. Jonathan Kim has been crowned the new executive chef at the elegant West Hollywood hotel restaurant. Anticipate a new menu and slate of dishes beginning mid-December.
