It was only a few months ago that Salt & Straw announced its expansion to Abbot Kinney and the Arts District. Before those shiny new shops have even opened their doors, the Portland-based creamery with a current LA location in Larchmont Village has revealed its plans to hit the Valley with its fourth branch in Studio City.
The new location, just down the street from the (real) Joan's on Third and Barrel & Ashes, will continue the vast improvement of the area's culinary landscape. Valley dwellers can look forward to favorite Portland flavors like almond brittle with salted ganache and freckled woodblock chocolate, along with LA-inspired ice creams like avocado and strawberry sherbet and black olive brittle and goat cheese with ingredients sourced from local farms.
Construction on the 850 square foot space (much smaller than the forthcoming Venice and Arts District locations) will begin in early 2016, but Studio City locals dying to get a taste of the ice creamery's goods can get a preview this Friday, November 20th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., when Salt & Straw Studio City will offer $1 scoops in support of Food Forward's Farmer's Market Recovery program.
