Los Angeles already has a plethora of fantastic options for pastry lovers, but that isn't stopping a slew of great new bakeries from opening around the city. Last week Superba Food + Bread opened its doors in El Segundo, and now two more retailers are hawking cakes and artisanal breads galore:

Cake Monkey Bakery

Cake Monkey, the eight-year-old pastry specialist that, until recently, operated exclusively out of a commissary, has finally opened its own brick and mortar. The bright pink Beverly Boulevard shop, located right across from CBS Studios, is open daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. during weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

This means Mid-City denizens can get a sweet treat from breakfast until dinner, with options like croissants and sticky buns with Forge coffee in the morning, to Cake Monkey's signature chocolate cakewiches and seasonal cider roasted apple pie with double cheddar crust as an afternoon pick-me-up.

Cake Money can also be found in retailers such as The Oaks Gourmet, Paper or Plastik, and Olive & Thyme.

From South Pasadena Farmer's Market regular to a dedicated store front, Seed Bakery is now open and gracing Pasadena locals with organic bread made with freshly milled whole grains. Here the bread follows Old World traditions of milling whole grains on a stone mill with natural levain, then fermenting the dough for twelve hours before baking.

The focused offerings of breads like whole grain rustic country, kalamata olive boule, rye, and farro demonstrate true dedication to craft, and can be purchased as a thoughtful addition to a holiday table. In addition to bread, there's pastries, coffee, as well as breakfast and lunch fare.
