Vee's Cafe expands to Palms

A tipster writes in to say that Vee's Cafe, which currently enjoys locations in West Adams and Boyle Heights, is expanding into the former Zabumba space on Venice in Palms. The patio build-out, as seen above, is already underway, and signage is up.

Talk back to Golden Road

Want to know more about the surprising sale of L.A.'s biggest craft beer manufacturer? Now's your chance to hear it all (and to ask questions) from co-owner Meg Gill and CFO Paul Burgis, right at Golden Road itself. It's going down tonight at 5 p.m. though, so hope you don't have plans already.

Here comes Pomegranate

With two local outposts up and running, wellness-centered, macrobiotic and vegan Japanese player Shojin is next jumping into the sweets arena. Management sends word that they've just launched a new online dessert shop under the moniker Pomegranate, which focuses on gluten-free cookies and cakes made with alternate sugars and flours. And while the shop is virtual at the moment, they're presently scouting spaces "to open a dessert shop in Los Angeles." — Kat Odell

Love & Salt goes Late Night

The popular South Bay option by way of Michael Fiorelli has put together a late night menu that runs daily for the last hour of service at the bar or chef's counter only. Options are limited to pizza mostly, but there is the secret return of Fiorelli's vaunted burger, which was first introduced back when he was at Mar'sel. Mix and match any pizza (or the burger) with a glass of wine or beer for $20.

Stone Cold Steve Austin x El Segundo Brewing

What is one of wrestling's most famous cheap beer swillers doing collaborating with a South Bay craft beer maker? Apparently the two are an IPA match made in heaven, as Austin has partnered up with El Segundo for Broken Skull IPA, a limited release option made to the wrestler's specifications. Want to party with the man himself at the release party? You can do that.

New fall cocktails at Ace Hotel

The upstairs bar at the Ace is getting a redone cocktail experience, and they're celebrating the launch tonight at 5 p.m. with a birdwatching party (seriously). There'll also be a DJ and loads of drinks, but this fall/winter menu actually is all bird-themed — hence the ornithology. Here's the full menu for the next few months.
