Grand Central Market’s newest dining option Ramen Hood is here to save the day. Following a slight delay that pushed the opening back, it seems that the time has now come for meat-free noodle soup dominance in the thick of Downtown.
Ilan Hall, Top Chef season 2 winner and former chef at The Gorbals, first decided to bring all-vegan ramen to the market back in spring, but has since been hard at work manufacturing every aspect of the place, from the design to the vegan eggs that will float in every bowl.
The long, black counter will keep daily lunch hours for now, running 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Evening hours are coming as the market continues to expand its weekend nighttime plans, but for now you’ll have to head to GCM during the day if you’d like to try this hearty bowl of veggie-backed ramen.
The menu currently in play at Ramen Hood, which was designed by Hall and executive chef Rahul Khopkar, is below (sans prices).
