Work has been progressing along smoothly for Recess in Highland Park, the upcoming lunch and dinner spot from owner Sevan Abdessian, after more than a year of announcements and pushed deadlines. Of course as anyone in the industry knows, these things take time.
The most recent timeline had Recess, which enjoys another popular location in Glendale that opened in 2009, coming along in late November, but there’s now an official date to peg to your calendar: January 18.
On that Monday, Recess will open for dinner hours only, beginning at 5 p.m. Eventually there are plans to expand into lunch service once the early kinks are worked out, but for now guests will have the opportunity to enjoy dinner on the olive tree-lined patio or inside under the many bookshelves that wrap the room. Spacecraft designed the location, which includes an outdoor fireplace (non-functioning, sadly) and room for 150 folks.
Recess Highland Park opens to the public mid-January.
