South Bay denizens and last minute holiday shoppers should be happy to hear that San Francisco's Smitten Ice Cream has finally opened its doors in El Segundo's fancy retail complex The Point.
The churned-to-order scoop shop by founder Robyn Sue Fisher uses patented liquid nitrogen-enabled ice cream machines that allow fresh ice cream to be made on the spot. The El Segundo location is the first outside of the Bay Area, and pays homage to Southern California with surf shack-inspired design featuring an outdoor patio with fountains, fire pits, and gardens.
Now through Saturday, December 19, the shiny creamery will offer a "Share the Joy" buy-one-get one special with the purchase of a small ice cream. It should be a nice afternoon pick-me-up for those battling holiday lines.
Not a sweet enough deal for you? Smitten's signature radio flyer wagon will hit Manhattan Beach Pier this coming Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. with free samples of the popular flavors TCHO chocolate and cookie dough with pretzels and chocolate chips.
