Loredana “Mamma” Cecchinato of Osteria Mamma Sadly Passes After Cancer Battle

Very sad news today. Osteria Mamma matriarch Loredana "Mamma" Cecchinato passed away on December 7, 2015 after a short battle with cancer. The beloved restaurateur, mother, and grandmother was 70 years old.

Born in Padua, Italy, Mamma grew up cooking traditional Italian food. In 2004, Mamma opened a restaurant with her children, Osteria La Buca, before leaving to start a new restaurant, Osteria Mamma, on Melrose near Larchmont Village.

Mamma will be remembered by her family and customers-turned-family for her warmth, contagious laughter, and delicious Italian food.

Those who would like to celebrate her life can do so at St. Brendan's Church on December 21st at 9:30 a.m.
