Honey Pig Opens in Monterey Park, Diamond Bar's New Kid-Friendly Restaurant, More From SGV

Koreatown invades SGV this month with BBQ and Dessert.

And now, a semi-regular update from San Gabriel Valley's vibrant restaurant scene:

1) Monterey Park: Ktown's Honey Pig has taken over a long lived vegetarian restaurant on the third floor of the complex that houses Daikokuya, Shin Sen Gumi and Private Dining. The Monterey Park plaza now contains four Asian cuisines, more so than any other strip mall in the west SGV. Honey Pig is offering a $30 AYCE KBBQ dinner. 111 N Atlantic Blvd Ste 351

The Attic

2) Diamond Bar: Parents of future Diamond Bar High School attendees rejoice — The first indoor kidspace and restaurant with Asian food has just opened in the SGV. The Attic has spaghetti on the menu, but there is also steam minced pork and egg on rice. Sadly, there is no alcohol license, but one can hop 2 doors over to Il Poom which has plentiful soju and beer. 21050 Golden Springs Drive Ste 107

HOT Spicy Kitchen

3) Monterey Park: SGV just hit peak bone broth with the recent opening of H.O.T. Spicy Kitchen. Again, this is a Sichuanese "style" hot pot soup restaurant, but without the "hot", since there is no live fire at the table. There is, however, prominent signage stating bones are used in creating the spicy stock. 132 S Atlantic Blvd

4) Alhambra: SGV's first all-organic market and cafe has opened. Loha's also has a bistro" section of the market operated full day and sells prepared organic Chinese food items. 300 W Main St Ste 120

Caffe Concerto

5) Arcadia: Caffe Concerto, K-town's chic Korean-Italian cafe, has soft opened at the Santa Anita mall. Since Santa Anita is massive, it's helpful to know the new cafe (and bakery) is at the Promenade section of the mall, close to Macy's. Unlike the Koreatown location, hard liquor cocktails and sojus are not available at the mall, though there is a beer and wine license. Still no kimchi to be found at either location. 400 South Baldwin Ave #2360

6) El Monte: Yang's Dining Room has taken over LOL Fusion Cafe in El Monte. The expansive space also features a large patio area, which may or may not be useless come El Nino season. The cuisine is decidedly Sichuanese. 10502 Lower Azusa Rd

Huo Zhou Wang

7) San GabrielThe previously reported Congee King has opened as Huo Zhou Wang. Instead of taking over the Memory Restaurant, it actually opened at the old Pa Pa Walk (RIP) space. 227 W Valley Blvd Ste 148B

Dezhuang

8) San Gabriel: De Zhang Morals Village has taken over 2188 Spicy Shrimp. This is another Sichuanese hot pot restaurant but focuses on long metal skewers. There are no servers donning Communist outfits, but the grapevine says the soup base is far tastier than other Beijing hot pots right now. 529 E Valley Blvd Ste 108A

Finally, check out this week's newly updated Essential Guide to Restaurants in San Gabriel Valley, which just might be the mecca of all Asian food in America.
