Jonathan Gold's 'City of Gold' Documentary Premieres in LA This March

It's a coming home party, of sorts.

Farley Elliott is the Senior Editor at Eater LA and the author of Los Angeles Street Food: A History From Tamaleros to Taco Trucks. He covers restaurants in every form, from breaking news to the culture, people, and history that surrounds LA's dining landscape.

It’s been essentially a year since the Sundance arrival of the Jonathan Gold-focused food documentary City of Gold. Since then the film has been all over, but has yet to actually screen in any meaningful way in Los Angeles. Until now.

Though details on which theaters will ultimately showcase the niche film are still being worked out, a date has been set for the arrival: March 11. That’s when the lauded film, which follows Gold around town as he eats, writes, and waxes poetic about Los Angeles, will land in its own love-letter city, hopefully for a sizable run. No word on how many theaters exactly will show the documentary film, but the entire cinematic love letter to Los Angeles should be worth seeking out for anyone interested in the city's food culture.

If you’d like to see the trailer for City of Gold first, you can head right this way.
