Looks like that Middle Eastern restaurant from the Madcapra team could be close to happening after all, as this morning the LA Times reports that Sara Kramer and Sarah Hymanson will be taking over the former Mother Dough space in Los Feliz.
Oh, and they’re bringing Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo with them.
The Animal/Mec guys have been pushing further east of late, opening up Trois Familia with Ludo just down the way in Sunset. With their new Madcapra partnership, Shook and Dotolo seem more intent on helping to raise the star of two young and hungry chefs in Hymanson and Kramer, who will be taking their market-driven Middle Eastern concept into Los Feliz sometime in 2016. By all accounts, a full service restaurant is something the two have wanted for a long time.
The plan for the menu will be rather simple (and won’t include falafel): create casual Mediterranean food that fits the easygoing neighborhood, rather than trying to shoehorn in some grander concept. There’s no name for the place just yet, but expect the turnaround at the former beloved Mother Dough space to begin in earnest any day now.
