Breaking: Mother Dough is closing by the end of the year in Los Feliz, reports the LA Times. Though the place had conducted a nearly religious approach to Neapolitan-style pizza since 2011, owner Bez Compani has succumbed to the difficulty of producing quality pies six days a week. He told the Times, "serious burnout doesn't even come close to describing what I'm feeling."
It's a huge bummer for the community, which boasts the likes of HomeState and nearby spots on Vermont and Hillhurst, but needed a grown up kind of place like this to have pizza. It was a challenge though, for anyone coming to the neighborhood from elsewhere, to find reliable parking on the block.
Long regarded as one of the best pizzerias in the city, fans will have just about three weeks to have some of Compani's pies before the place shuts down for good. No word on what will replace the restaurant, though another eatery is slated for the space. Those wanting a similar kind of pizza in the area can find it at Desano on Santa Monica Blvd.
