Renovations and rent hikes are no longer just affecting Sunset Boulevard, as even Echo Park’s sleepier sections are starting to turn into newer, pricier businesses. Case in point: the decades-old storefront space at 1507 Echo Park Ave., which The Eastsider says is being converted into usable office space and a takeaway food shop, with an on-site Italian restaurant to boot.
Though the Eastsider post doesn’t specify the who and what behind the project (and so far, attempts to reach the architect of the project haven’t led anywhere), things are apparently moving right along. The building itself is deep in the rehab stages, with a likely 2016 unveiling for at least some, if not all, of the components.
Just a bit further up the street there are plans for another takeaway restaurant and juice bar, too. That one is slated for an early 2016 unveiling and should have an organic and vegan focus when it arrives. Add on the The Whisperer, which took over the empty Red Hill space closer to Sunset, and suddenly Echo Park Avenue is becoming a burgeoning corridor for food and drink.
