Much beloved Sushi Sasabune has been a longstanding addition to the Los Angeles sushi scene, with a location both in West L.A. and Beverly Hills, plus those express versions in Studio City and Pacific Palisades. Well now Eastsiders finally have one to call their own, with Sasabune Glendale opening earlier this month.

The Glendale branch is located at 101 N Brand Blvd, just down the street from The Americana in the former location of a sushi restaurant called Makimaki. There's no doubt this is a serious upgrade, as Sasabune has gained a fine reputation for chef Nobi Kushuhara's philosophy of quality above all, which partially explains the restaurant's notoriously bland decor.

It's the same basic deal as the other two locations, with both omakase and a la carte offerings. Longtime Sasbune chef Hiroki Totsuka takes the charge here, with an omakase experience that can run south of $100 if you're careful, but quickly reaches northwards of $200 per person.
