All About Bread is all about Century City

There’s a new All About the Bread in town, setting up shop inside the Westfield in Century City. That’s good news for the oft-churning address, which has burned through several sit-down restaurants in the past few months. As Toddrickallen says, this one’s basically just a food court option, but hey — good news for the office workers in the area, regardless.

The best cookbooks around

The LA Times has a nice round-up of the best cookbooks of the year, from Mark Bittman’s Kitchen Matrix to The Mission Chinese Food Cookbook. A notable LA arrival: Gjelina, by Travis Lett. Just don’t expect to start whipping up those recipes from scratch without a little lead time.

Free brisket tonight from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

It's going down at Bludso's Bar & Cue on La Brea, with gratis tacos (on La Azteca tortillas, no less) happening for two hours during the Dallas Cowboys game. Get there early, eat often. And if you want to purchase more tacos than the free one, or more after 7 p.m., they're $4 a pop.

Another distillery for Santa Ana

Orange County is once again prepping for the arrival of a small-batch distillery, after the recent news of Blinking Owl’s arrival. The newcomer, named Batch Plant Distillery, is trying to raise some serious cash in the next month to get off the ground, so if you’d like to help you can check out their IndieGoGo campaign.

Where to eat in Atwater

Here’s a handy look at where to eat in suddenly food-friendly Atwater Village. The Weekly dishes on some favorites, from longtime options like Proof and Tacos Villa Corona to Dune and All’Acqua.

No More Salt's Cure Weho

The longtime breakfast option is prepping to make the push over to Highland, which will take some time. Yesterday was their last service for a little while, so if you're in the mood for their incredible morning flapjacks, you'll just have to look elsewhere for the time being.

Stone Brewing Berlin is up and running

Though you can't technically drink them here, it's worth noting that Stone Brewing's forward-thinking Berlin brewery — the first of its kind, wherein an American craft beer brewery set up a fully independent brewery in Europe — is operational as of today. They're rolling out a slew of freshly brewed options across the continent, from Italy to the UK, right this very second. That's certainly one way to keep growing, rather than, you know, buying in with the big guys.
