Well this is welcome news for Downtown office workers. Cento Pasta Bar, an indefinite lunchtime pop-up residency in the wine bar Mignon, opens officially today.
The partnership between Santos Uy (Papilles, RiceBar, and Mignon) and Avner Lavi, former pasta cook at Bestia and Sotto, aims to make handcrafted pasta more accessible by offering it at an affordable price. This mission is composed dishes that feature a combination of homemade fresh pastas, plus select artisanal dried noodles direct from Italy.
The tight, hyper-seasonal menu is built of two antipastos, four pastas, and two housemade desserts that will change according to the best local offerings. The debut menu offers three pasta options priced at $9, including a ricotta and egg yolk raviolo with brown buttered sage, plus a spaghetti with Santa Barbara uni and chilies for $14, which is almost half the price of similar uni pastas at other restaurants.
There's even $6 wine by the glass and an $18 special that includes a pasta and two other items for those who can indulge in a more leisurely lunch.
Cento Pasta Bar in Mignon will open for lunch only Tuesday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
