Guppy Tea House Swims Into Old Town Pasadena

The growing shaved ice and Pan-Asian snack shop is starting to proliferate.

Guppy Tea House, which just opened a perfectly-located outlet across from the Americana at Brand not too long ago, is close to debuting yet another sizable eatery, this time in the heart of Old Town Pasadena next to 85 Degrees and around the block from Bachi Burger. Pasadena is quickly becoming the kind of place for 626 tourists and denizens to congregate, with only the best concepts percolating to the prime real estate of Old Town and its environs.

Meanwhile at Guppy's (as it's commonly referred to), this location will sport beer & wine, which seems to be a first for the operation, though the Glendale spot is also inching toward a full liquor license. Known for its massive bowls of shaved ice topped with fresh fruit and copious condensed milk, Guppy's is a college student's dream come true. Mealsized snacks like fried rice, popcorn chicken, and kimchi noodle soup also work well for larger groups.

When it opens, Guppy Tea House will serve from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. on weekdays, and until 2 a.m. on weekends. At the moment, this location will likely open within the next few weeks.
