John Park, the former pastry master behind Lukshon, has been on a tear lately, opening up Quenelle in Burbank and quickly following it all up with Ice Que, a shave ice spot in Alhambra. Up next: a second Quenelle dessert shop in San Marino, the upscale Pasadena suburb (you know, where the Huntington Library is).
Partnering with his wife Christina, Park opened Quenelle in Burbank to much fanfare in 2013, immediately establishing the shop as a go-to source for delicious desserts with unique flavor combinations. Last year came the shave ice spot in Alhambra, with promise of a second Quenelle to follow, this one much closer to Pasadena. And now, it’s finally arrived.
The new spot sits right on Huntington Drive, offering a bit of sidewalk seating in front of the simple white space. Inside, marble counters and dark green walls give the place an easygoing feel, with chalkboards standing in for menu signage.
Quenelle San Marino is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weeknights, and 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. So far, soft open mode is still in place, but plans to expand the scope of the eatery are already in the works, including a planned juicing station and takeaway pie sales.
