Joe's Pizza, which started out humbly nearby Third Street Santa Monica a few years ago, is starting to venture to other dense parts of the city, with perhaps no better location than a spacious new slice joint in Downtown's Historic Core on the corner of 6th and Spring. Opened quietly last week, the classic New York pizzeria was offering its signature pies by the slice and whole to nearby revelers who wanted a quick, cheap bite.
This expansive location also offers a bit more in the way of drunk eats: chicken parm and meatball parm heroes, salads, and even a few different kinds of pasta. Full size pizzas run anywhere from $18 to $25 when loaded up with toppings like barbecue chicken, fresh mozzarella, and more. Slice prices are pretty standard issue, around $3-4 each depending on the topping mix. And for something a bit heartier than a slize, there's even calzones filled with ricotta and Italian sausage.
Oddly enough, the Santa Monica location seems to be unrelated to the five new places that have sprung up around town.
