Big late-day news out of the Mozza complex yesterday: Matt Molina is walking away from the B&B Hospitality Group after an eight year run. As the opening chef de cuisine for both Osteria Mozza and Pizzeria Mozza when the Melrose duplex unveiled itself in 2007, Molina has been instrumental in pushing both restaurants forward over the years, earning James Beard accolades along the way.

According to the Times, Molina's departure is an amicable one. "At a certain point, everyone kind of grows up and change is good," Molina told the paper, adding his own excitement to get out and explore his options elsewhere.

Don't expect Molina to leave town, though. The 36 year old is keeping Los Angeles in his sights, and is sure to pop up somewhere soon enough.
