The small cafe is doing an array of daily dishes.

Ever since Blacktop Coffee hit the pavement back in April of last year, plenty of folks have been wondering when the food would come. The diminutive third wave shop by coffee impresario Tyler Wells is finally fulfilling their tasty destiny with a full slate of simple breakfast options.

After a quick (and apparently quite popular start) last Sunday, the Blacktop team had to shut things down until today. Now they’re back up and running, with simple options that are designed to capture the neighborhood’s heart — things like avocado toast, poached eggs, and granola.

As of today, the roll out is happening from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. Just keep in mind that the space is tiny, so you’ll likely be eating over a plank of wood while sitting on a nearby stool. Not that Blacktop is pioneering the ‘go small’ trend: one need only to look at Dinette in Echo Park to learn about the balancing act between coffee, small outside stools and plates of food.
