Just when the Valley gets some bad news, it bounces right back with a dose of the good. Augustine, the upcoming Valley wine bar from Matthew Kaner, Dustin Lancaster and Dave Gibbs is getting closer to becoming a reality every day.

Lancaster and Kaner, the brains behind Los Feliz’s Bar Covell, already know a thing or two about running a successful wine bar, so it’s easy to imagine Augustine settling in nicely to this stretch of Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks. The former shop, a Brats Brothers of all things, looks to have gotten some updated lighting plus a few sleek, tall two-person booths and one gorgeous marble bar.

Augustine is sure to be a boost for the area, with its selection of boutique wines and small bites. There are even a few taps at the ready for a rotating selection of craft beer. Though the previous expectation was for a January arrival, the end of February looks likely now
