Belmont Shore Lands Upcoming All-Day Organic Eatery Just in Time For Summer

The upcoming concept hopes to be ready by late spring.

The Hofman Group, that innocuous name behind the Lucille’s Smokehouse and Hof’s Hut chains, is introducing Long Beach to a new upscale concept along the Belmont Shore.

While it has been a downright devastating January for the team, what with the complete destruction by fire of the Bixby Knolls Hof’s Hut location, a spokesperson brought a bit of good news out to play this week, and it concerns the former longtime Lucille’s space that was at the heart of the Shore.

Sitting at the corner of St. Joseph and 2nd Street, The Hofman Group is going to tackle the unused space by anchoring in an aptly named concept called Saint & Second. The vast space is getting plenty of attention, thanks to a kitchen led by former 555 Steakhouse executive chef Shelly Bojorquez. According to the Group, Bojorquez will oversee the New American-style menu and bring a focus on organic and farm-to-table dishes.

For now, the plan is to have the restaurant open in time for another bustling Belmont Shore summer, and will offer daily lunch and dinner as well as brunch on the weekends. —Matthew Bragman
