Ventura Boulevard continues to impress. The Valley thoroughfare has gone through peaks and, well, valleys over the decades, but this most recent run is among the area’s best — particularly in Sherman Oaks. That’s where Augustine wine bar just popped up, along with the recent Public School 818. And for coffee or dessert? Happy Days Cafe now has you covered.

Working the ingenious ’specialty coffee and churros’ angle, Happy Days Cafe is a brand spankin’ new addition to the scene, just West of Van Nuys Boulevard. Espresso drinks are relatively straightforward ($2 for an espresso ain’t bad), though in keeping with the theme there are a few cutesy options like a horchata latte. No word on what beans they're currently using.

On the food side, custom churros and cake slices are the order of the day, served with ice cream or fruit. Apparently, someone went a little bonkers and bought a waffle maker though, because they’re also willing to go crazy and waffle up your churro. Because why the heck not?

Overall, Happy Days seems to be a pretty cheery place, with white brick and plenty of countertop. Exposed brick, potted succulents, and a few hanging elements round out the interior. Think of it as a less colorful Compañia de Cafe.

Happy Days is open daily from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
