After plenty of build up, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams has officially opened its doors in Los Feliz. Following a soft opening party last night on Hillhurst, the welcoming storefront is officially ready to scoop for the public, beginning today.
Even without all of that sought after Midwestern ice cream, the sleek interior of Jeni’s should be a draw for the community from the moment it opens. Full of light and sporting the sort of carefully designed tile flooring that’s all the rage with restaurants (and Instagram) these days, the airy dessert space is perfect for a casual stop-in after a night of eating dinner nearby.
A wide black menu hangs behind the counter, detailing the array of signature scoop flavors and ice cream sandwich options, and a wood table at the far end of the room hosts a collection of retail items for purchase, from cookbooks to t-shirts to bags of coffee. Add in a few stools and a standing bar, and the neighborhood addition is ready for the crowds.
Hours for the highly anticipated Jeni’s run from noon to 10 p.m. on weeknights, with extended hours to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. Swing by tonight between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. to meet Jeni herself — and get a free scoop of ice cream in the process.
