It looks like Jan’s on Beverly is headed for a Chipotle double-makeover after all. While a few astute tipsters first indicated that the longtime restaurant space might just become a new home for the fast food burrito concept, last week’s news that the land was being split down the middle to accommodate two different restaurants seemed even more curious.
Pretty quickly, rumors of a ShopHouse-Chipotle bang bang bubbled up, and today those have been confirmed.
Following along the winding City of L.A. permit path, it looks as though signage for both a ShopHouse and a Chipotle are approved to go up on site. When completed, the Beverly Boulevard storefronts may become something of a flagship property for the chain, given the size and build-out. And that likely means a shutter for the nearby Chipotle at the Beverly Center — unless the area seems capable of handling two burrito locations within a few hundred yards of each other.
Still no word on an official opening date for the new tenants, but with things moving this fast, it likely won’t be long.
