In the age of the expanding coffee concept, there is perhaps no stronger local chain than Groundwork Coffee Co. Not only has the Venice Beach brand been around for 25 years, they source organic coffee beans and roast locally. And with nearly a dozen locations, it seems there’s no slowing them down.
Well, now Groundwork can add an Arts District location to their expanding portfolio. As of today, they’ve officially taken over the bright red Novel Cafe location on Traction Ave., just down from Wurstkuche and near a few other coffee pourers like Pie Hole and Blacktop Coffee.
Inside, the Groundwork space is seriously stripped down in that classic warehouse-y way, with exposed beams and brick and hanging bulbs everywhere. Still, it’s a deep, tall storefront with plenty of light up front — not bad for a morning cup. Groundwork Arts District will be in soft-open mode for a while, so check for hours before heading over.
