Cahuenga has always had a high turnover of restaurant concepts, and in true form, there's a lot happening on the busy street. Berlin Currywurst recently bit the dust, and a sign taped up in the window shows a change of ownership with a new business name The Walrus and Carpenter, owned by Urban Green LLC.
That's not to be confused with Seattle-based oyster bar The Walrus and the Carpenter, helmed by chef Renee Erickson. When reached for comment, Urban Green owner Rickey Smith made it clear that the two concepts are completely unrelated. Do we smell lawsuit in the air? We think yes.
Los Angeles-based restaurateurs can't seem to get enough of ampersand-named concepts, like this & this & this. Although little is known about The Walrus and Carpenter (likely The Walrus & Carpenter), we do know that Urban Green LLC is a lifestyle company that uses phrases like "conscious consumers" (how very Gwyneth Paltrow of them) and "green space." Smith explains that the restaurant, which is still in the construction process, will use produce from its Urban Farm projects in Los Angeles.
