The non-retail environment is only for the seriously nerdy.

As specialty coffee continues to tighten its grip on the Los Angeles market, more and more roasters are looking to L.A. as a great new potential fan base. That’s certainly the case with Counter Culture Coffee, the two decade-old North Carolina-based roaster, which is set to open an L.A. branch of its popular Counter Intelligence training centers in Silver Lake.

Per the LA Times, the plan is to drop one of Counter Culture’s sleek training centers (here’s the one in Boston) right off of Sunset Boulevard in the heart of Silver Lake, around the corner from El Condor. The build out is being managed by the Design, Bitches team, and should arrive in late fall or early winter.

Inside, coffee cuppings, home coffee brewing classes and small sessions on espresso drinks will take place on a rotating schedule, with beans likely coming direct from Counter Culture’s new 12,000 square foot roastery in Northern California. It’s important to note that there is no retail component to Counter Culture, so don't expect to grab a cup and head back out the door. This is just an educational center for people who really want to nerd out about their coffee.
