Minus the temporary dinner pop-up Coin de Rue from The Royce chef David Féau that kicked up some dust back in February, all has been quiet on the former Red Medicine space front. It’s no secret that journeyman chef Kyle Schutte is taking over the space for a casual flatbread concept called, appropriately, The Flats, but news of its arrival has been slow to trickle downstream.
Well, it seems that things are starting to come together after all, with the release of this ABC license showing an anticipated on-site 47 drinking permit for the restaurant. That’s usually a good indicator of progress, which likely means The Flats shouldn’t be too far off.
What will this stretch of Wilshire Boulevard think of its very own flatbread spot? That remains to be seen, but there is certainly a push to attract the neighborhood with more casual concepts as of late (see also: Relais de Paris, just up the street).
