Opening Alert: Barista Society Hits Union Station With Beautiful All-Day Coffee Bar

The specialty coffee operators are aiming for elegance and accessibility when it opens tomorrow.

Barista Society

It looks like Barista Society plans on growing up fast. The Bunker Hill-bred specialty coffee shop only first landed at the mezzanine level of the U.S. Bank Tower back in 2013, but now has plans to really make 2015 their year. They’re currently looking to open four stores this year downtown, which includes sites like the previously hinted at California Plaza. But first, Union Station.

It’s actually a perfect location for an upmarket coffee operator like Barista Society, given the relative lack of drinkable coffee in the area (Starbucks notwithstanding). The beautiful marble and wood-lined stop off is going to be perfect for passing riders in need of a morning pick me up before commuting on. Beans come by way of their own private roasters, with pastries for sale to help move the mornings along.

The glassy enclosure sits on the East Patsaouras Plaza side of the station, which hasn’t seen as much love over the past few years as the western end of the building. Masterminds for the transit hub have plans to begin activating the area with new tenants and maybe even a restaurant or two, starting with Barista Society.

Barista Society Coffee Boutique soft-opens tomorrow at 7 a.m., and will keep hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until their grand opening on April 14. From there, hours expand to 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
