Poké fans rejoice! The trend has finally hit the Westside hard with Sweetfin Poké, which opens today at 11:30 in Santa Monica. Helmed by Dakota Weiss, the clean-cut, fast-casual concept is basically Chego mixed with a heavy dose of Chipotle. That means a selection of signature bowls that mix everything from tuna and mango albacore to spicy yuzu and even shiitake chile tofu. Because this is Santa Monica, the healthy angle is pervasive, from the bamboo rice to even a vegetable poké (is it still poké if there's no fish?).
Of course, diners can fully customize their bowls with a slew of fresh ingredients, like yellowfin tuna (ahi), salmon, snapper, and albacore. Then build on top of that with sauces like creamy togarashi, sriracha ponzu, and yuzu koshu for something a bit brighter. To drink, consider a house-infused tea or coconut water, adding to the salutary approach Weiss has taken throughout the concept.
