Here's the latest update for Nobu Ryokan, a Japanese concept hotel that's going up in the former Casa Malibu. Prolific chef Nobu Matsuhisa has partnered up with billionaire Larry Ellison in the former Casa Malibu space, which the Oracle CEO acquired for a cool $20 million back in 2007, just before the Great Recession.

Stephen Udoff reported a few days ago that the ryokan, which is a traditional Japanese inn, put up the signage earlier this week, confirming the progress that's occurred over the last two years. No telling when the ryokan will actually open at this point, but here's to hoping that it'll be before the end of the year.

Matsuhisa also co-owns the Nobu Hotel inside Caesar's Palace, which he developed with Robert DeNiro. Todd Avery Lenahan is doing the interiors and overall design at Nobu Ryokan.
