The Cactus Taqueria brand continues to expand, particularly in the Valley — and often into spaces once held by beloved local restaurants. This time, they’re moving into Sherman Oaks, on the site of the former Manny’s at the corner of Woodman Avenue and Moorpark Street.
Back in 2013, it was the longtime Henry’s Tacos in Studio City, known for their Americanized hard-shelled tacos and Googie signage. After losing a protracted battle with landowners, Henry’s moved just down the way and Cactus Taqueria took over the longtime stand, giving it a fresh coat of paint in the process.
As for Manny’s, the reasonably popular Mexican food stop closed in early 2015 after more than five years in business. They themselves took over the beloved Bronco’s at the same site, and now Cactus Taqueria comes in with their well-known white and green cactus-shaped signage to run the show. They’re currently in soft open mode (that means cash only, which in actuality will probably stay that way forever), with a grand opening apparently planned for Friday, May 1.
The best part about this new Cactus Taqueria? They serve beer, and even have some TVs on the walls. Not bad. Cactus Taqueria is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Sherman Oaks.
