The popular açai shop Backyard Bowls, hailing from Santa Barbara, has officially opened its doors here in LA along Beverly Blvd. Although this location's menu possesses some of SB's specialties, it mostly serves new or modified items. You can find the eatery right between The Grove and The Beverly Center, and when Blue Bottle Coffee opens next door, the two should be an irresistible breakfast combo.
A few of the new menu items include the Coco-Cado bowl, which blends açai with avocado, banana, spinach, coconut oil, and Backyard Bowls homemade cashew milk, and comes topped with granola, banana, strawberry, coconut shavings, and bee pollen. For something with high protein, try the Power Bowl, consisting of blended açai with blueberry, banana, peanut butter, sacha inchi protein powder, homemade hemp milk and topped with granola, fresh roasted and chopped almonds, banana, blueberry, and hemp seeds. Check out the full menu here.
Backyard Bowls brings an interesting innovation to the LA location, its "Blending Chamber." Once you order, the bowl goes to a glass soundproof area where bowls and smoothies are blended, so diners can enjoy their bowls in peace without the annoyance of the blender noise.
Finally, if you want an alternative from Blue Bottle, Backyard will be brewing San Francisco's Four Barrel Coffee, as well as loose-leaf teas from Leaves and Flowers. Hit up Backyard Bowls Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and beginning at 8 a.m. on weekends, with expanded hours in the works for the future.
