Los Angeles has not yet reached peak cheese shop saturation, as evidenced by the upcoming opening of Cheesemongers of Sherman Oaks.
Owners Kia Burton and Chaz Christianson are looking to bring their Cheesemongers operation to (where else?) Ventura Blvd., at the site of a former weed shop near Van Nuys Blvd. Build-out has been going strong for a few months, and the duo finally plans to soft open this Wednesday with an array of artisanal cheeses and cured meats, as well as sides like olives, jams, and crackers.
Burton got her start with cheese at Cowgirl Creamery in San Francisco, as well as Neal’s Yard out of London, while Christianson has worked as a classically trained chef doing charcuterie for local notables like Neal Fraser.
Cheesemongers of Sherman Oaks soft opens on Wednesday, April 8, with hours from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends (closed Mondays).
