The Barrel Room, a Wild Western Whisky Den on Sunset Strip

New, 2 comments

The Lore Group strikes the area again with a wood-laden drinking hall.

Rock & Reilly's knew it had a good thing going when it opened up its former private events space to the public called The Barrel Room. Modeled after a casual Western watering hole, it's the kind of low-key whisky spot that'll be the place for quality rye and bourbon before hitting a show nearby when it opens later this week.

The Lore Group's newest Sunset Strip production mixes everything from barrel-aged cocktails by Matt Greene to an approachable set of drinking bites, like pickled hard-boiled eggs, cheese and charcuterie, and more from chef Chris Olsefsky.

Of course, there's even more in the way of brown liquor with monthly scotch tastings, Canadian whiskies, and even special American bottles that don't necessarily qualify as bourbon. Weho Whiskey Society founder Trey Barrett will be compiling the tastings that'll continue throughout the summer.

And since bars these days need more than just booze, there's seven TVs to enjoy sports, plus bar games like ring & hook, shuffleboard, and jumbo jenga. Hey, bar fights are the thing of the past now.

Hours run 11:30 a.m. to 1:45 a.m. daily.
