While cruising on PCH, people usually have an idea of where to dine in Malibu. Now there's one new restaurant along the highway, plus another one opening within a few months. The first is Tramonto, an Italian eatery now open in the place of 10-year-old Giovanni's Italian Restaurant. Next is Tavern 1, a new barbecue spot, which opens this summer and should be a great addition to the neighborhood there's currently nothing like it in Malibu.
According to the Malibu Times, Tramonto does a modern take on Italian food, featuring homemade pastas and a gnocchi bar. Besides Tramonto, restaurateur Nando Silvestri owns two other restaurants in the Palisades and Brentwood named Il Piccolo Ritrovo and Il Piccolo Verde. He's also the nephew of the previous owner, Giovanni Mazzola. What to get here? The orecchiette made table side.
A few blocks away, Tavern 1 takes the place of Mexican restaurant La Costa Mission. Owner Marco Gonzalez wants to create a convivial atmosphere where locals can feel at home. With other ventures in Agoura Hills like Tavern 101, Gonzalez is planning to make quality 'cue, burgers, seafood, steaks and beer braised short ribs. And since it is Malibu, healthier options will be available as well.
