It looks as though the Mar Vista location of The Curious Palate has officially closed after seven years in business, though their even more westerly outpost at Santa Monica Place remains open.

A notice on the market-driven restaurant’s website reads:

Over these years, we’ve done our best to hone our dining philosophy to be curious, eat well and have fun, and we now believe that our larger restaurant in Santa Monica best expresses this, through its expanded menu and wine and beer offerings. We are eager to bring this model to other areas in Los Angeles, including back here in Mar Vista.

It was a good run for the Curious Palate team in Mar Vista, who helped to bring comfort food, coffee and lots of great cheese to this stretch of Los Angeles.

In its place comes Atmosphere Cafe, which has taken over the restaurant and even expanded the back patio. The menu doesn't differ much (think grilled cheese sandwiches and perhaps a few more salads), but they're doing three square meals a day and the customers seem happy enough to return, even though there's a new name on the awning.
