SANTA MONICA— Modern tavern The Independence is kicking off lunch service pushing a rather unlikely menu item: pho. In addition to the noodle soup, the Santa Monica pub is offering a global menu of blue crab and shrimp ceviche, seared tuna tacos, and nettle and ricotta gnudi. Lunch is served from noon to 5 p.m.
BEVERLY HILLS— Thomas Keller's Bouchon is continuing its affordable Sunday Supper series of classic dishes served family style. This Sunday, May 24, feast on slow-roasted Cook Pigs Ranch pork belly with yellow corn and shallots, peach, turnip and romaine salad. The Sunday, May 31 menu will feature coq au vin. Dinner runs from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., and is $30 for adults and $15 for children under 12.
HOLLYWOOD— Madera Kitchen has launched a new happy hour available Tuesday through Friday and Sundays from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Score $2 sliders on Tuesdays, $1 oysters on Wednesdays, and $5 flatbreads on Fridays.
